Abstract:

An Electrostim 180 2i that was capable of delivering nine combinations of burst mode and carrier frequency was used as the stimulating unit. Subjects were stimulated at a current amplitude sufficient to produce 50 of their maximum voluntary contraction MVC and received a series of ten electrically induced contractions at each frequency combination. A 15-second stimulation followed by 50 seconds of rest was the duty cycle utilized. The Cybex II dynamometer was used to record the torque data and the Cadwell 5200A registered the EMG signals. The results of the data analysis allow conclusions to be drawn. Keywords High amplitude electrical stimulation Pain perception Muscle fatigue Burst mode variation Carrier frequency variation.
