Abstract:

The studies focused on two areas 1 acoustic and perceptual-cognitive factors related to sound identification and 2 the effects of context on identification of specific sounds. Results indicated that identification time and accuracy are related to causal uncertainty and to a construct called identifiability. Context was found to produce negative bias but not positive bias.
