Abstract:
In analytical treatments of piezoelectric-acoustic transducers, signal processors, and resonators, the electrochemical transduction mechanism is most often expressed in terms of the elements of the piezoelectric e or d matrices. Molecular interpretations of piezoelectricity, and especially electrooptical applications, usually involve polarization as the preferred variable, and consequently the alternative a and b matrices are of interest. The elements of these latter sets are calculated for lithium tetraborate from measured elastopiezodielectric constants taken from the literature.
