Abstract:
This laboratory conducted an evaluation of rocket motor exhaust and liner combustion by-products after four high speed rocket motor sled tests at the Holloman AFB Test Track. The Zuni, HVAR High Velocity Air Rocket, and Nike rocket motors were evaluated. Results indicated airborne concentrations of nitric oxide, nitrogen dioxide, carbon monoxide, camphor and diethyl phthalate would pose the greatest health risk to test track workers. Recommendations were made to have track crews wear personal protective equipment to control or reduce exposures.
