Polyurethane block copolymers were synthesized containing 33 and 50 wt soft segment, and hard segment based on 4,4-diphenylmethane dissocyanate MDI chain extender. The soft segments were mixtures of polytetramethylene oxide PTMO and polyperfluoroalkylether PFEG glycols Mn1000 and 1900, respectively, ranging from 4 to 100wt PFEG. The PMTO polyol in one sample was substituted with a PMTOethylene oxide polyol 7525 mole ratio Mn1140. The MDEA-extended polymer was ionized using 1,3-propane sultone. The morphology, bulk, and surface properties of these polymers were evaluated by a variety of techniques. Differential scanning calorimetry and dynamic mechanical analysis showed that the incorporation of PFEG into the soft segment phase slightly enhanced the degree of phase separation.
