Abstract:
This report is divided into three sections dealing with the development and use of fluorescent probes of the nicotinic acetylcholine receptor AcChR. Section I summarized the purification and characterization of four mono-fluorescein cobra a-toxin derivatives. Section II deals with the use of the about derivatives to define the approximate orientation of cobra a-toxin on the acetylcholine receptor. Section III summarizes our measurements of the intersite distances between the binding sites for acetylcholine and phencyclidine on the nicotinic acetylcholine receptor.
