Abstract:

Software maintenance is a major activity at the Navy Management Systems Support Office NAVMASSO. The purpose of this report is to assist the Navy Management Systems Support Office in performing software maintenance by showing a detailed example of applying the software change management methodology which was described in the previous report Software Maintenance The Need for Standardization, Norman F. Schneidewind, February 1989, Naval Postgraduate School Technical Report NPS-54-89-02. The maintenance of local area network software is used as the example. The methodology is general and can be applied to any programming environment and language, including COBOL.
