The goal of this contract is to identify, characterize , and test antigens of Leishmania that could serve as candidate vaccines against cutaneous leishmaniasis. Monoclonal antibodies were raised against promastigotes and tested for their reactivity with leishmanial antigens using immunoprecipitation and Western blot analysis. A radioimmunoassay was developed to detect the presence of leishmanial antigens on the surface of infected P388D1 cells, and was employed to screen monoclonal antibodies for their ability to detect such antigens.
