Abstract:

This thesis incorporates an experiment performed with the objective of expanding the existing knowledge about Vaporific Explosions. This phenomenon, known to produce extensive damage to targets, is studied for a possible energy transfer mechanism occurring during the projectile-target impact interaction. This investigation is concentrated mainly to observe the distribution and combustion of fragments aluminum particles within the fragment beam and the transfer of kinetic energy to surfaces on the target. The results indicated no evidence of combustion for the selected target.
