The purposed deepening of the Southwest Pass of the Mississippi River to 45 feet is analyzed for its impacts on flow distributions and sedimentation changes. Flow redistributions and shoaling caused by bank losses in Southwest Passes and the forced suppression of flow into South Pass were analyzed. Results from two-dimensional numerical hydrodynamic and sediment transport models for a variety of plans and flow conditions is presented. The US Army Corps of Engineers TABS-2 modeling system is used. The constructed model cover the entire Mississippi River Delta downstream of Venice, Louisiana.
