Nitrosoguanidine, an anticipated degradation product of nitroguanidine which in turn is a primary component of U.S. Army tripe-base propellants, was evaluated for mutagenic potential in the Drosophila melanogaster Sex-Linked Recessive Lethal test. Nitrosoguanidine was non- mutagenic following 72-hour feeding exposures to concentrations of nitrosoguanidine ranging from 5 mgml to 50 mgml. Keywords Mutagenicity, Genetic toxicology.
