Abstract:

This is one of three reports describing the Emissions and Dispersion Modeling System EDMS. EDMS is a complex source emissionsdispersion model for use at civilian airports and Air Force bases. It operates in both a refined and a screening mode and is programmed for an IBM-XT or compatible computer. This report--MODEL DESCRIPTION--provides the technical description of the model. It first identifies the key design features of both the emissions EMISSMOD and dispersion GIMM portions of EDMS. It then describes the type of meteorological information the dispersion model can accept and identifies the manner in which it preprocesses National Climatic Center NCC data prior to a refined model run. The report presents the results of running EDMS on a number of different microcomputers and compares EDMS results with those of comparable models. The appendices elaborate on the information noted above and list the source code. Keywords Pollution, Air pollution, Dispersion model, Emissions model, Data base, Microcomputers, Computer simulation, Mathematical models.
