Pagination or Media Count:
This report documents the field collection of contaminated sediments from the New YorkNew Jersey Harbor, laboratory testing of those sediments, and initial evaluation of the test results. The work reported in this document is the first phase of a comprehensive evaluation of disposal alternatives for contaminated dredged material from the New YorkNew Jersey Harbor. Based upon bioassaybioaccumulation and base neutral priority pollutant data, field sampling sites were selected by consensus of the Steering Committee. Field sediment samples were collected from the New YorkNew Jersey Harbor with the assistance and direction of the US Army Engineer District, New York. Material was collected from the most highly contaminated shoals in the harbor. The samples were combined and homogenized to form a worst-case contaminated sediment sample. This sample was then subjected to laboratory testing.
