Abstract:

The Department of Defense DoD has developed a program to identify and evaluated past hazardous material disposal sites on DoD property, to control the migration of hazardous contaminants, and to control hazards to health of welfare that may result from these past disposal operations. This program is called the Installation Restoration Program IRP. The IRP has four phases consisting of Phase I, Initial AssessmentRecords Search Phase II, Confirmation and Quantification Phase III, Technology Base DevelopmentEvaluation of Remedial Alternatives and Phase IV, OperationsRemedial Action Actions. Roy F. Weston, Inc. was retained by the United States Air Force to conduct the Phase I, Initial AssessmentRecords search at the Air Force Reserve Facility and Pennsylvania Air National Guard Facility at Greater Pittsburgh International Airport.
