Abstract:

The goal of the IRP Phase I study is to identify sites where there is potential for environmental contamination resulting from past waste disposal practices and to assess the potential for contamination migration from these sites. The conclusions are based on the evaluation of information collected from the project teams field inspection review of records and files examination of historical aerial photographs and interviews with base personnel, past employees, and state and local government employees. Twelve potential contamination sources were identified on USCG facilities at MMR. The evaluation of these sites are identified, and their evaluation is summarized in Table 5.0- 1. Locations of these sites are shown in Figures 5.0- and 5.0-2. Six of the 12 sites were determined to have a potential for contamination andor contaminant migration. Evaluations and conclusions regarding the seven sites CS-1, CS-2, CS-3, CS-4, CS-6, and FS-2 that have a potential for contaminant migration and received HARM scores are detailed in the following paragraphs. HARM methodology is presented in Appendix G individual HARM rating forms for each site are presented in Appendix H.
