Abstract:

As experienced registered nurses in the obstetrical area within the United States Air Force, we felt a need to focus on specific cultural groups and their unique needs during childbearing. We identified the two largest groups serviced by the USAF excluding caucasian Americans. We utilized a telephone questionnaire completed by Obstetrical and Gynecological Nurse Practitioners, Certified Nurse Midwives, and Charge Nurses of the ObGyn clinics currently on active duty with the USAF to help us identify these groups Asians specifically Philippino and Korean, and Hispanic specifically Mexican-American. Through literature review we compiled the most up-to-date information available to provide guidelines for care providers and clinical nurses in caring for these unique groups. Keywords Health care facilities, Education, Medical services, Women, Infants.
