Abstract:
Digital filter design has become instrumental in many fields of electronics. The objectives of this work is to study the benefit of using computer design tools to find equivalent digital filter realizations of analog filters. An analog video bandpass filter for TV Intermediate Frequency signal extraction was selected as an example. First we introduce the Finite Impulse Response Filter FIR and the Remez program that is used for optimal FIR filter design. Other computer design tools such as ILS are used to design a number of existing bandpass filters. Emphasis was placed on the used of zero-one decomposition of filters to eliminate the number of multipliers and thus reduce hardware requirements.
