Abstract:
Current materials used in this temperature range 700 F have significant deficiencies. Ceramic coatings provides good protection, but are difficult to apply and require a high-temperature cure. Standard paints can be easily applied and air-dry, but they provide poor protection against corrosion. While materials requiring high-temperature cure and special application equipment can be used in manufacturing processes, they are not practical for most aircraft repair and touchup applications. Therefore, for these applications, the air-dry systems are primarily used. These systems provide barrier protection against the environment.
