Abstract:
The initiation and early growth of spots in channel and boundary layer flows is simulated using a three dimensional spectral code. The simulated spots show significant agreement with available experimental data for such quantities as growth rates and spreading angles. Disturbances are introduced into the center and edge of the developing channel spots to investigate the relative sensitivity of spots. Keywords Navier Stokes equations, Incompressible flow, Marching multigrid nonlinear method.
