This 10 year long contract supported research on the physical oceanography of the Gulf Stream, which included several sub-projects Research project topics included A theoretical study of topographic Rossby Waves trapped over the continental slope in the Gulf Stream Observations of topographic Rossby Waves and Gulf Stream meanders along the continental slope An observational study of Gulf Stream deflection and meander energetics along the continental margin Observations of the current structure and energetics of Gulf Stream fluctuations downstream of Cape Hatteras.
