Data compiled as part of the 1985 Department of the Navy Support Services Survey were analyzed to examine awareness of the Navy population regarding social support services available to them and their families through Navy Family Service Centers FSCs. This study assessed accuracy of knowledge about the range of services provided as well as perceptions regarding whom FSCs are intended to serve. Various ways to disseminate information were compared for effectiveness. Results suggest that utilization and impact could be enhanced by efforts to increase awareness.
