Abstract:

The Tire Quality Monitor TQM is a microcomputer-controlled, ultrasonic tire inspector. It not only performs the computations required to classify and analyze ultrasonic signals reflected from tire structures, it also formats and controls the displays, intercepts and interprets the operators pressing of the front panel keyboard switches, controls the inspection rate and the characteristics of the signal reception hardware, and provides a reprogramming capability to modify tire classification and analysis parameters. This report describes the software used to perform these functions, provides information to a software engineer on how the TQM supports itself and performs its programmed functions, and contains information on how the computer recognizes and analyzes tire structures. This document is addressed to tire engineers or nondestructive evaluation personnel responsible for the TQMs implementationmodification. Keywords Tire, Quality, Retread, Nondestructive, Testing.
