Abstract:
Powders of Nd3, Sr2, and Pb2 Beta aluminas were prepared by ion exchange of Na beta alumina. On heating to temperatures ranging from 850 C to 1700 C, XRD analysis indicates that Nd3, and Pb2 beta aluminas start to decompose at around 1100C. Sr2 beta alumina remains unaffected to temperatures of 1300 C. The mechanism of the decomposition process and the resultant phase trasformations are different for each case. Keywords Beta Alumina, ion exchange, X ray diffraction, phase transformations, Neodymium, Strontium, Lead.
