Abstract:

The synthesis of liquid crystalline polymers and oligomers containing calamitic and disc-like mesogens by cationic polymerization ad oligomerization is reviewed. Examples from ring-opening, carbocationic, and radical-cation polymerizations and oligomerizations are discussed.
