Abstract:

The phase-structure function is of importance in understanding statistical behavior of oceanic acoustic transmission, particularly temporal and spatial coherence. Techniques for calculating the contribution to the phase- structure function density from a spectrum of oceanic internal waves are presented. Methods employed include power series expansions, asymptotic expansion, and global approximations.
