This work presents the first attempt at using microwave spectroscopy as a diagnostic tool for the study of complex solar active regions. Since the relevant emission mechanisms are gyroresonance opacity and thermal bremsstrahlung free-free, the microwave emission is expected to depend on the values of temperature, density and magnetic fields in the solar corona.
