Abstract:
A novel optical transform system has been conceived and demonstrated. It consists of a twin imaging interferometer followed by an all glass Fourier achromat, a CCD array, and an electronic digital computer. This final report has brief descriptions of publications made on this topic during the contract period with the papers appended for easy reference. A comprehensive study has also been made of the performance of holographic optical elements. It has been found that general operating features of complicated elements are most easily explained quantitatively by a phased scatter analysis. However, precise quantitative performance is best analyzed using a modified form of thin grating decomposition. Keywords Optical transform Hartley transform cosine transform sine transform holographic optical element wavelength dependence charged coupled devices.
