The military use in the drug war is an area of continuing debate. Congressional leaders are increasingly urging the Department of Defense to expand their role in the War against drugs. Congressional leaders are determined to fight the war on drugs with military forces. Much recent legislation has passed to expand the use of military forces and equipment. The use of the military in Bolivia was considered a success and more missions fo this type can be expected. The National Guards Role in the drug war is significant and congress is urging a more active role. The drug ware must be fought using a triad 1 abatement of drug abuse in the United States through education and tougher laws, 2 interdiction of illegal drugs coming in through the borders, and 3 cutting off the supply of drugs in the country of origin. There is a host of concerns about the growing problems of drugs in the United States and all three sectors Congressional, Public, and Military must come to grips with the problem and work together towards a common solution.
