Abstract:

This study investigated AirLand Battle doctrines airlift requirements, airlift capabilities to meet those requirements, and the C-17. Twelve Army and Air Force staff agencies provided data regarding the global theater threat where airlift could contribute most to the support of AirLand Battle operations, the AirLand Battle operation requiring the most airlift support, and the most significant airlift requirements and capabilities supporting AirLand Battle doctrine execution. The nine requirements and eight capabilities were the basis for recommendations to Military Airlift Command for airlift operational and C-17 doctrines that support AirLand Battle doctrine.
