Research has been conducted on the interactions of single atoms and colliding pairs of atoms with strong radiation fields by making quantitative measurements of multiphoton processes involving highly excited atoms in microwave fields. Among results of the research have been the discovery that blackbody radiation can be used to measure avoided crossings of energy levels in an electric field, and the first measurements of microwave multiphoton resonances. Resonant collisions of K atoms have also been studied and very narrow collisional resonances have been observed. Keywords Radiation Collisions Multiphoton.
