Abstract:

Tin 129m was introduced into alkyd, epoxy and polybutadiene coatings on steel by means of an applied cathodic potential. Emission Mossbauer studies were made after removal of the coated metal from the aqueous solution and exposure to a room atmosphere of approximately 50 relative humidity. The isomer shift and the Debye-Waller factor indicated that the tin ion was in the tetravalent state, that it was highly ionic in character and that it was tightly bound in the polymer matrix.
