Abstract:
Various modifications of the freeze drying process for Stage 1 artificial skin have been attempted and it appears that one of these modifications may prevent pore collapse. The parameters of the skin lymphocyte reaction were studied and it was concluded that additional effort is required before the assay can be shown to be reproducible. Epidermal basal cells can be cryoprotected to varying degrees at -80 C by dimethyl sulfoxide and glycerol.
