The ground state for the fractional quantized Hall effect is investigated in occupation number space based on the Laughlin wave function thereby an explicit and exact formula is derived for the ground-state energy. In a plot against the square average angular momentum, the signs of the components of the Laughlin state in angular momentum space appear to be distributed roughly in a periodical way.
