Abstract:
The electrochemical behavior of sulfur, sodium sulfide, sulfur monochloride and carbon disulfide was studied on a glassy carbon electrode at 25 C in 1-methyl-3-ethylimidazolium chloroaluminate melts in basic excess organic chloride, neutral 11 mole ratio of organic chloride and AlCl 3 regions. Cyclic voltammetry, rotating disk electrode and steady-state potentiostatic techniques were used in the study. The literature on sulfur and sulfur compounds in NaCl-AlCl3 melts is reviewed and comparisons are made with the room temperature melts.
