To assist in the understanding of corrosion fatigue crack growth in aqueous environments, an in situ fracture technique for measuring the kinetics of electrochemical reactions with bare metal surfaces has been developed and evaluated. The experimental procedure and preliminary results are described and discussed. Preliminary evidence that supports a direct connection between the extent of electrochemical reactions and corrosion fatigue crack growth is given.
