Abstract:
This report discusses the affect the local geology and geophysics has on acoustic propagation in a region of the Northeast Pacific. Evidence for the existance of ash layers acting as significant acoustic reflectors is presented along with other physical property data i.e., roughness spectrum and sediments thickness. Regional geology, deposition models and on-land analogs of similar depositional environments presence of chert are also presented. Keywords Abyssal hill Shallow sub-bottom reflectors Thin sediments Volcanic ash Roughness.
