Abstract:

The new amphoteric ligands Me3SiCH22GaPPh2, Me3SiCH22InPPh2, and Me3CCH22InPPh2 have been prepared and characterized by elemental analyses, cryoscopic molecular weight measurements and Hydrogen 1 NMR, Phosphorus 31 NMR and IR spectroscopic data. An X-ray structural study was also used to define the nature of Me3SiCH22InPPh22 in the solid state. These compounds have been prepared by either of two methods, a thermolysis reaction between the group 13 metal trialkyl and PPh2H or by a metathetical reaction between the dialkylmetal halid and KPPh2. Cryoscopic molecular weight measurements and Phosphorus 31 NMR spectroscopic data demonstrate that the new compounds exist as monomer-dimer equilibrium mixtures in benzene solution. The colorless crystal of Me3SiCH22InPPh22 contains were discrete molecules of the dimer in each unit cell. the compound crystallizes in the triclinic space group P1. The molecule contains four membered indium-phosphorus rings.
