Abstract:

A formal definition of subspaces is given via the notion of decomposition of data spaces. It is shown that decomposition is associative and commutative up to isomorphism, and that a subspace so defined is indeed a data space. Further the authors develop the concept of a faithful synchronization, one that guarantees that each subspace can realize all of its stand-alone behavior after being embedded in a composite space. In addition it is effectively proven that two-way communication interfaces, as they arise in VLSI array processors, are sufficient for implementing n-way synchronization. Author
