Abstract:

The use of vector analysis for deriving algorithms for generating earth coverage footprints from satellites in arbitrary orbits is presented. Extensive analysis and results are given for two examples 1 a satellite in geosynchronous orbit and 2 a satellite in subsynchronous orbit. The antenna beam on the satellite can be elliptic in cross section with arbitrary orientation of semi-minor and semi-major axes.
