This Interim Report describes work done in developing an aircraft battery state of charge and charge control system. The basis for this system developed by ERC is a nickel-oxygen Ni02 Pilot cell 0.374 Ah. This pilot cell is cycled in tandem with a nickel-cadmium battery. The oxygen pressure of the pilot cell is utilized to determine and control the state of charge of the nickel-cadmium battery. The Ni02 pilot cell baseline performance was determined during this period. The effect of using different nickel electrodes ERC, SAFT, MARATHON was also performed.
