Abstract:

This thesis documents the mechanization of Computer Systems Management course selection and scheduling. It examines the factors that complicate academic scheduling and reviews the major problems associated with the current system. Alternative decision support system techniques to consolidate and integrate scheduling data were examined for potential implementation problems. Solutions to those problems became design objectives. The scheduling software was developed using the software engineering methodology. A prototype program was distributed to selected users and the final program was modified based on their feedback. The program custodian should control the program by making it available through a centralized media such as an electronic bulletin board. Future enhancements to this program should include expansion of the database, conversion to a database language and development of a microcomputer version. Author
