Abstract:

Air Force organizations have been turning to the use of office automation OA technologies to improve productivity in the office environment. The Air Force experience with the implementation of OA has often been characterized by a lack of documented evidence of benefits experienced. With the competition for budgetary dollars growing, the need to take advantage of previous OA experiences has reached a new level of importance. This document presents the results of a recent review of federal agency and private sector OA experiences. The document also recommends a means to institutionalize the sharing of OA experiences by proposing a modifications to current Air Force policy and regulation covering the identification, documentation and use of such experiences. It is intended that this document contribute to raising the general level of OA awareness and literacy by identifying additional sources of information on the subject of office automation.
