Abstract:

This study evaluated the effectiveness of the Military Entrance Physical Strength Capacity Test MEPSCAT during its first year of implementation. MEPSCAT is a mandatory test for enlistment processing. Its results are used to encourage soldiers to enlist in those military occupational specialties MOS for which they meet the physical demands requirements. Although the data upon which the study was based was necessarily limited, it appears the MEPSCAT program is contributing to a better match between physical capabilities and job demands.
