Abstract:

U.S. Air Force Organization Assessment Package-measured demographic characteristics and job attitudes of officers, enlisted, and civilians in the administrative career area are compared with the attitudes of corresponding personnel in the rest of the OAP data base. Significant attitudinal differences between administrative personnel and other personnel are found and analyzed in light of organizational behavior literature and previous studies concerning administrative personnel. Significant attitudinal differences are found in all four major areas of the OAP Work Itself, Job Enrichment, Work Group Process, and Work Group Output. Admin personnel are found to be more positive in overall outlook about their jobs than non-admin personnel. Areas where improvement and attention are needed are discussed. Recommendations are made based on the findings of this study.
