Abstract:

The dimer Me3SiCh2 2AsGaPh22, obtained from the reaction of Me3SiCH22AsH with Ph3Ga, has been characterized by partial elemental analysis, NMR spectroscopy, cryoscopic molecular weight determination, and complete single-crystal x-ray analysis. Crystals of the dimer are triclinic. The bond lengths Ga-As 2.5181 and Ga-As 2.5301 A and bond angles As-Ga-As 85.082 and Ga-As-Ga 94.922 deg in the centrosymmetric, and consequently planar, four-membered ring indicate a significant degree of strain.
