Abstract:

The purpose of this paper is to present the results of a short-term study directed at developing a method to analyze Army Command and Control System ACCS equipment with respect to militarization requirements. The procedure developed during this study is called the Survivability Requirements and Equipment Criteria SREC method. The SREC Method is designed to provide decision makers a simple, transparent vehicle for determining militarization requirements for ACCS equipment items. These requirements are separated into the components of operational conditions, Threat environment, and the criticality of the function to be performed. These requirements are compared to equipment capability. The decision maker can determine from this comparison which elements of these requirements a particular piece of equipment meets, and make a judgment of whether to improve equipment at a cost or trade off requirements. Keywords Procurement, Ruggedized equipment.
