Experiments demonstrating the generation and recirculation of a high-current low-emittance electron beam through the terminal of a Van Degraph type accelerator are described. Beam emittance approaching the theoretical limit for a thermionic cathode was achieved and a recirculation level of 96 was observed. Keywords Free Electron Lasers.
