Abstract:

ExcelNet, part of the U.S. Army Forum, is a think-tank of volunteer soldiers and private citizens who contribute useful, innovative perspectives and alternative solutions to complex, wide-ranging LEADERSHIP issues. ExcelNet is an interesting mixture of the Old Guard, the New Guard, and the avant-garde. They have diverse educations, experiences, and views. What they all have in common is the energy and desire to make this a better Army. This is a volume of 42 separate concept papers on the Subject of leadership. The volume is divided into three main parts -- Command Climate, Leader Development, and the Future. This thought provoking anthology questions some of our fundemental assumptions about leadership. Articles cover decision making, battle staff integration, authority, Command Climate model, Airland Battle Leadership, Unit Cohesion.
