The general objective of this research project is to study radiative transitions in atoms and molecules especially those relevant to infrared radiation. Major efforts include i determination of optical emission cross sections for atomic oxygen transitions produced by electron-impact dissociation of O2, ii electron excitation from a metastable level to a higher level, iii excitation behaviors of Na atoms, iv production of excited N atoms b electron impact on N2.
