The intelligent gateway permits sharing of bibliographic resources between the network of technical libraries and information centers within the Department of Defense DoD and the DoD technical information clearinghouse -- DTIC. Contained in this functional description are summary description, detailed characteristics and operating environment of the system, as well as the cost factors and development schedule of the LAM project. Keywords include Library automation, Automated system design, Cataloging, Retrieval, Intelligent gateway, Shared cataloging, and Resource sharing.
